Judith Yovel Recanati is a leading entrepreneur and a social activist who devotes herself to strengthening and empowering Israeli society. She is the founder and chairperson of the Gandyr Group.
Founder and Chairperson of the Gandyr Foundation
In 2004, together with her late husband, Dr. Israel (Rolly) Yovel and their three daughters, Judith founded a family philanthropic foundation called “The Gandyr Foundation“, The Foundation aspires to assist in the process of strengthening and empowering Israeli society by supporting and cultivating civil society organizations.
Founder and Chairperson of Natal Organization
In 1998, together with the late Dr Yossi Hadar, Judith founded Natal - The Israel Trauma Center for Victims of Terror and War. The goal of Natal is to be a multi-professional treatment center for trauma victims and their families, focusing on rehabilitation and improving their quality of life. Judith is the current founder and chairperson of the organization.

Judith is a founding executive board member of Sheatufim – the Israel Center for Civil Society. Sheatufim serves as a professional home and information center for all civil society communities – third sector organizations, philanthropy, social partnerships and civil networks.
The Center works towards a stronger civil society by developing social leadership and promoting the fields of private philanthropy & inter-sectorial discourse.
Judith is a member of JFN Israel and the JFN chairperson for 2015:
The Jewish Funders Network organization was founded in 1988 in the United States to encourage quality philanthropy by creating a platform for collaboration, action and education. JFN Israel was founded in order to enable Israeli donors and financiers to exchange ideas regarding their philanthropic involvement and expand their contribution framework in Israel and abroad.
Judith is one of the Midot Organization trustees.
Midot is a public benefit nonprofit organization which promotes efficacy as a central measure that should be taken into account by social investors and nonprofit managers. Midot does this by ranking organizations and granting the Midot Efficacy Standard Mark, producing field reports & changing public discourse towards enhanced social investment in third sector activity.
The Impact Group
Judith is an active member in the Impact Group – an initiative for the promotion of philanthropy in Israel. It is a group of twenty Israeli social investors who chose to work together in order to significantly broaden the framework of private philanthropy in Israel and increase its effectiveness.
